Let's Do Life Together

By: Pastor Jim Schoon

Key Passage: Jeremiah 29:13

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

I was talking with a friend the other day and we were discussing the turmoil

happening in the world. We know that holding on in life can be challenging at

times. As we visited, she shared with me some advice she had received many

years ago. “As you go through life, stay next to God.” She then related how this

thought had been a real blessing in life.

Our passage for today emphasizes the invitation God gives to us to “do life

together” with Him. The people of Israel had a tendency to step away from the

path God had for them, and Jeremiah is speaking to them in one of those “step-

aways.” God was reminding them that He wanted to share life with them and

encouraged them to look for Him with all their heart.

God wants the same for us today. He wants us to partner with Him as we live our

24/7. He wants us to cooperate in His life of grace so we can be Christ-followers

who honor His name. The secret to that is to seek God with all our heart. We are

to wholeheartedly exert our efforts to see God in life. That means we desire Him

to lead us, open our hearts to His will, and live what He reveals to us. This is a real

challenge, but God invites us to do just that. And…it is possible.

Jeremiah’s words contain a spirit of encouragement, for God says, “You will seek

me and find me…”

The good news is: God is not only available, but He does not play hide-and-seek

with us. As we seek Him, He reveals Himself to us because it is His desire to be

known by us…and for us to experience life to the fullest. This can only be done as

we accept His revelation and “do life together.”

My friends, sometimes God feels elusive as we move through the labyrinth of life.

On our journey we experience mountain tops and valleys, corners to go around that

are filled with uncertainty, and our path is sometimes blocked by barriers that seem

impossible to get over, around, or through. Whatever life may bring, God invites

us to go with Him as He says, “Let’s do life together.”

May the Lord bless you this day as you seek Him, find Him, and partner with Him

in whatever life may bring. Remember: He is with you.

Prayer: Almighty God, thank You for the gift of today and thank You for being

available as You reveal Yourself to me. I would ask that You give me the faith to

seek You with all my heart, knowing I will find You and we will do life together

today. You are a wonderful God, and I love You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
