The Unbreakable Bond of the Love of God
By Pastor Jim Schoon
Key Passage: Romans 8:38-39
One of the blessings of being part of the family of God is that we have access to the heart of God through the Bible, His Written Word. In 2 Timothy 3:16, Paul writes, “All Scripture is God-breathed…” This means that God Himself gave/gives life to the words of Scripture, so they have meaning for the reader(s).
As we move through this challenging time in the life of CPC, I find comfort in the passage from Romans 8:38-39, “Nothing can separate us from the love of God.” What a great verse to hold close to our hearts as we experience changes in our normal pattern of life! No matter what happens, the love of God is present with us and gives us both comfort and peace during a trying situation.
A practical implication of this verse applies to the panic and fear that is being exhibited in America today. On the front page of the “East Bay Times” on Tuesday, March 17, there was the headline, “Mandate empties streets as fear, confusion take hold.” On the Local News front page, the headline said, “Stop overbuying, grocers say: There’s enough to go around.”
As people belonging to the family of God, we are freed from getting caught up in panic and fear, for we are in a relationship to God, through Jesus Christ, in which His love is forever with us.
Yes, we must be concerned. Yes, we must due our due diligence in being proactive against the virus. Yes, we must take the necessary precautions recommended by our leaders. Yes, we must respond as people of God who do not live in panic, fear, and confusion. For His love is ever present: “Nothing can separate us from the Love of God.” May you live in this truth as you enjoy this day with Him.
