By Pastor Jim Schoon
WELCOME, CPC MEMBERS AND FRIENDS, TO THIS DAILY DEVOTIONAL. I AM PASTOR JIM SCHOON AND I HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF PRESENTING A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT FOR TODAY.
THE VERSES FOR TODAY ARE FOUND IN PSALM 32:7-8.
David has been in a bit of a predicament and in Verse 7 he writes— “God, you are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.”
In a challenging time in David’s life, he affirms his faith in a God who loves him very much. And he testifies to the presence of God when he says that God is his “hiding place,” his place of “shelter,” and he speaks of the faithfulness of God in protecting him from trouble.
In verse 8, God responds and says to David (and to us), “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you and watch over you.” God is reminding David of his personal involvement in David’s life. He will protect David, guide him, and keep his eye on him.
What a great passage for us as we experience the “shelter in place” mandate. As you live out this mandate, please know that you are not alone in your sheltering and your “social distancing.” Be encouraged in knowing that God Himself is with you, providing you with what is needed to get through each day. In a sense, God is keeping His eye on you! As David trusted God, we can as well.
And your church family is walking beside you as well. We are in this together, you, your church family, and God. Be blessed as you live today.
Let us pray. Our Father in heaven, I pray you will be with us in these times, affirming your presence and love. May each person know you are a God who cares and is keeping an eye on them because of your love. In Jesus name. Amen.
