Worship

By: David Yim

Key Passage: Romans 12:1

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.

Worship can be explained and detailed in many ways, but Romans 12:1 has been a key verse in understanding what true and proper worship really is. We often think of singing and praising when we hear the word worship, but I believe worship is much more. Worship is in every person’s DNA. It’s a part of our human nature. We all place our values and loves in something that is in our lives. God is calling us to place our love and value in Him. When we say that we truly worship God, we are proclaiming that He is our ultimate love and we place our utmost value in him. If we sing to God or serve God without him being our truest love, then we are missing out on true worship. God is calling us to worship Him by being a living sacrifice and to offer our whole selves to him.

In these difficult times today, God is calling us to worship him by placing Him as our ultimate love. Remember today the narrative the Lord has for us and the reasons why He is so deserving of all our worship.
