Volunteer Info

Free Dining needs your help! Come and serve your community with others that have a heart for the hungry in the cities of Fremont, Newark, and Union City.

Anyone 18 years or older can be a volunteer. After 4 weeks of volunteering, a California Food Handler Card is needed at an approximate cost of $7 - 8.

Sign up to volunteer

Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
  • Shifts available:
9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Silverware wrapping, cookie bagging, food bag set up and filling with bottled drinks, food container labeling, set up for cooking (need 2 – 3 on-call volunteers)
  • 3:30 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. Food serving (need 2 on-call volunteers and 1 dishwasher)
Our preference is to have volunteers that want to work every week or every other week on a continuing basis. However, due to COVID exposures, we now need those that can step in (be on-call) when a regular volunteer has to isolate.
